5-Nights Treasures of Haida Gwaii Package

1 / 5

Overview

The Treasures package offers guests opportunities to experience the unique wilderness of Haida Gwaii and its profound heritage with local guides who will share their way of life on this magnificent archipelago. Haida Gwaii is the traditional and ancestral territory of the Haida Nation who have been stewards of these lands and waters since time immemorial.

This five-nights package includes novel ways to explore this uniquely breathtaking territory and be immersed in Haida Gwaii culture. The itinerary has been designed to be accessible to all ages and most physical abilities.

Haida Gwaii was not glaciated during the most most recent Ice Age; therefore, you will view the resulting coastal rainforests, wetlands, sand dunes, beaches, rugged mountains, streams, and lakes that nurture an extensive population of plants and animals that exist nowhere else on earth. For this reason, Haida Gwaii is often referred to as the "Galapagos of the North".

Day 4 A La Carte

  1. Skedans Islands

    10 hours

Option 1: K'uuna Llnagaay (Skedans) - Visit the ancient Haida village site on the east coast by travelling one hour by boat. This site has been uninhabited since the 1880s, but you can still see an array of poles standing in their original locations and the depressions of several longhouses. Learn the history and traditions of this Haida village on this full-day cultural adventure.
Option 2: World Class Salmon Fishing - Enjoy an hour-long scenic boat ride to the west coast to enjoy a full-day fishing. Cartwright Sound is famous for its nutrient rich water, which is a magnet to salmon! Almost all major runs of salmon on the west coast must pass by Haida Gwaii during migration and consequently into the fishing grounds known to locals as Skidegate Point. Salmon will be professionally packaged for guests to take home.
Both of these experiences provide opportunities to view marine life.
