Getting to Queen Elizabeth Park from Oakridge

Getting to Queen Elizabeth Park from Oakridge

Queen Elizabeth Park has entrances on several sides, and Oakridge–41st Avenue Station is near the park.

The City of Vancouver identifies the park as near both Oakridge–41st Avenue and King Edward stations on the Canada Line. Oakridge–41st Avenue Station is at the southwest corner of West 41st Avenue and Cambie Street.

The City does not give a specific walking route or transit directions from the station, so use the entrance that best fits your plans. For help planning a wider journey, consult this guide to Vancouver public transit.

There are entrances on Ontario Street and West 33rd Avenue, as well as along West 37th Avenue between Columbia and Mackie streets. If you’re driving, the City lists access from Cambie Street at West 29th or West 33rd avenues, and from Main Street at East 33rd Avenue.

What to see in the park

What to see in the park

Queen Elizabeth Park combines marked garden paths with recreation areas and other mapped attractions.

The City’s park map marks Bloedel Conservatory, the Quarry Gardens, Rose Garden, a viewpoint, a water fountain and Seasons in the Park. You can choose a garden walk or include some of the other mapped features as you make your way through the grounds.

The park also has 17 public tennis courts. They are first-come, first-served, with a 30-minute play limit when someone is waiting. Use of the roller hockey and basketball courts, and the Frisbee or disc golf area, is free.

Picnic sites can accommodate small groups of fewer than 50 people, and reservations are not required. The designated picnic area is on the park’s north side among the Arboretum trees, west of the duck pond along Park Drive. Tables are available there from May to October.

The Quarry Gardens are one of the attractions marked on the City’s Queen Elizabeth Park map.

For an accessible garden route, the City says the gardens can be reached by a marked wheelchair-accessible path.

For a seasonal detail, the Japanese cherry tree grove near the west-facing picnic spot blooms in April. Picnic tables in the designated area are available from May to October, so those features follow different seasonal patterns.

Views from the park’s high point

The park’s garden walk reaches a high point the City calls the “top of the city.”

The City describes a simple walk around the garden as 0.41 km, or 824 steps. The park map also marks a viewpoint, so you can pair the garden route with a stop at that location.
